Tuesday morning is certainly not in favour of India in Tokyo as quest for gold for Indian hockey team ended with defeat in the semi-final against Belgium. Although, chances are still there to win a medal after a long wait of over four decades but it is limited to bronze medal.
But, as winning a medal in Olympics creates history so Indian team would certainly not like to lose this opportunity easily, especially in hockey. Moreover, Indian team will have to make strategy to not provide any opportunity of penalty corner to the opponent team. It is notable that the opponent team Belgium has scored three goals (out of five) only through penalty corner.
Semi-final matches of women’s hockey teams are yet to be played, so there is still a hope for gold or silver medal despite the fact that this is first time women’s team has reached to this level.
Indian challenges in the games like equestrian, discus throw, shooting, archery, table tennis have been almost over. Wrestling too has witnessed initial glitches. In such a situation spectators should keep our finger crossed as the there are only two medals in Indian kitty till date.
