A big
reshuffle has been witnessed in the medal tally on the fourth day of Olympic
games. Earlier, US has made a paradigm shift in the medal tally and grabbed numero uno
position replacing China, on the fourth day of the Olympic Games, but this was changed later on and Japan grabbed top position in a roller coaster like performances. This is probably the biggest
jump after the Olympic Games took off.
Earlier, China had been holding top position in the medal tally and Japan had been giving a tough fight for number one position. But, performances of the US players put the country on number one position from third position with 14 medals including seven gold medals.
But US could not maintain its position for a long time as host nation Japan emerged as number one at the end of the day despite US added one more medal by the end of day. On the end of the fourth day US had 15 medals including seven gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
However, China too gave a tough fight but ended up with third position despite having 18 medals including six gold, five silver and seven bronze medals.
On the other hand, host nation Japan kitty suddenly surged and it grabbed number one position with 13 medals including eight gold, two silver and three bronze medals. nine medals and positioned itself on third place. Great Britain, South Korea and Australia have been put at the fifth, sixth and seventh places respectively.
India, however could not add medal in its kitty on fourth day but won heart by the performances of Bhabani Singh in Fencing and Sharat Kamal in Table Tennis.
